The Cocker Spaniel is the direct follower of the d’Oysel breed, used in England and France for hunting birds since the 11th century. The name probably comes from their Spanish origin. However, there are numerous races of Cocker Spaniel, and this is why the Cocker Spaniel puppies can be easily confounded with some other breeds. In 1893, the Kennel Club in Great Britain established the standards for this dog. Since then, the Cocker Spaniel was divided into two main races, the English and the American Cocker Spaniel, which resemble and differ in so many ways.
